Copper Materials For High-Quality Parts Manufacturing

Copper is a key material in any industrial application due to its properties, such as electrical and thermal conductivity, malleability, corrosion resistance, and antimicrobial benefits. Copper can be easily stretched, molded, and shaped and is superior in energy transmission. As a result, it continues to be the most popular material today for domestic and high-tech applications.

Copper is primarily used in electrical components for wiring and electric motors used in machinery.

In addition, it is widely employed in the construction and manufacturing industry.

You can rely on Interstate Metal, Inc. to help choose the best copper products for your project. Following are our copper line of products and offerings:

Copper Tubes

Copper tubes are made of 99.9% pure copper and trace amounts of alloying elements. They are available in hard and soft tempers, with the latter indicating that the tube has been softened by annealing. Copper tubing is essential in protecting refrigerants from environmental factors, such as heat absorption from the atmosphere. Therefore, the copper tube between a compressor and an evaporator should be insulated.

Interstate Metal, Inc. is a premier supplier of pure copper alloys with a large inventory of pure and alloyed copper available in sheet, plate, rod, bar, tube, pipe, and fittings.

Copper Plumbing Tubes

Copper plumbing tubes are widely used in the construction industry for water supply lines, drains, and vent lines. This type of plumbing material can withstand both cold and hot temperatures. It is also less likely to freeze during winter than other materials. Copper plumbing tubes are also resistant to corrosion and have a sufficient reactivity rate.

Copper ACR Clean & Cap Tubes

Copper ACR clean and cap tubes are installed to direct refrigerant flow between system components while preventing it from escaping into the air. The inside of the copper tube is cleaned and dried before sealing the two ends to ensure it remains clean during the production process.

Copper Refrigeration Pancake Coil Tubes

The pancake copper tubes are primarily used in the air conditioning, installation, and refrigeration industries. They have good bending properties for use in utility supplies such as plumbing installations, gas transport networks, air conditioning systems, and refrigerant piping. These products are also supplied in the annealed condition.

ACR Series Level Wounded Copper (LWC) Tube Coils

Copper tubes in level-wound coils (LWC) are particularly cost-effective for fabricating heat exchangers, tube bends, heaters, and other components. They are initially used in the automated production of finned tube batteries for refrigeration and conditioning systems.

Copper Bars

Copper bars are extensively used products in a variety of industries. Since copper has high ductility, thermal and electrical conductivity, and natural corrosion resistance, manufacturers can use it in the following sectors and applications:

  • Automotive industry
  • Architecture and construction
  • HVAC component
  • Electrical industry
  • Marine equipment
  • Machined parts and components

Interstate Metal, Inc. provides quality copper bars in three product forms: copper round bars, copper rectangle bars, and copper square bars.

Copper Round Bars

Copper round bars, commonly referred to as copper rods, are usually supplied in Grade C101; it is classified as high-conductivity copper (HC). Some applications for copper round bars include plumbing hardware, telecommunication materials, bus bars, wiring components, and marine equipment. Manufacturers can also use them in applications that require extensive machining.

Copper Rectangle Bars

Flat bars or rectangular copper bars are the purest grades of oxygen-free copper with much tighter impurity limits than other grades. They cannot be soldered or brazed, but they are ideal for machining. Copper rectangular bars are used in various industrial applications, including base plates, bus bars, heat exchangers, pipework fittings, and automotive spark plugs.

Copper Square Bars

Copper square bars are metal alloy bars with four equilateral sides that differ in size. Because of their high electrical and thermal conductivity, they are widely used in electrical applications and general fabrication. Copper square bars are also ideal for building and structural applications due to their exceptional corrosion resistance, ductility, and tensile strength.

Copper Wrot Fittings

Wrought or wrot copper fittings are utilized for pressure applications and are made following ASME/ANSI B16.22 requirements. These fittings are made of various alloys such as C10200, C12000, C23000, or any copper alloy containing a minimum of 84% copper (Cu) and a maximum of 16% zinc (Zn). They are typically used for waste, drainage, and vent applications with solder joints.

Adaptors

The wrot adapter fittings allow the conversion of a solder connection to a threaded connection.

Bushings

Copper bushings, also known as plain or sleeve bearings, are cylindrical with no moving parts. They join pipes with internally and externally threaded ends to connect pipes of varying diameters.

Caps

Copper end caps are necessary plumbing fittings for forming a tight seal at the end of a pipe. It features a solder cup. They are ideal for projects involving gas, drinking water, and hot water, and they are easy to install.

Elbows

A copper elbow is a fitting used to connect two copper pipes or a copper pipe and another copper fitting at an angle.

Couplings

Couplings are pipe fittings that aid in the extension or termination of pipe runs. These fittings can also be used to change the size of the pipe.

Tees

Copper tees are used to connect three copper pipes and can branch off the main copper pipe with pipe sizes that are equal or smaller.

Straps

Copper straps are used in plumbing to secure the copper pipe in place.

Air Chambers

The wrot copper air chamber is used in both residential and commercial settings. The air chamber has a male solder end that regulates the water hammer in new and existing above-ground hot and cold water supply lines.

Cross Over

A copper crossover connects one copper pipe to another without bending existing lines.

Traps

Copper traps allow condensation to flow freely while preventing outside air from being drawn into the air conditioning unit.

Flanges

Copper flanges are circular with ridges on the outside and differing threaded holes. They are frequently used to join pipes or steam cylinders.

Copper Press Fittings

Copper press fittings are alternatives to soldering copper pipe connections. Unlike typical soldering methods, press fittings do not require heat and weld or solder joints. They also work with various press tools and jaws. As a result, copper press fittings are excellent for connecting pipes in multiple applications, including chemical and gas lines, fuel, oil, and lubricant lines, and potable water lines.

Using only the best quality materials, Interstate Metal, Inc. provides a wide range of copper press fittings products.

Adapters

Adapters are used to join two different sizes or types of fittings. These are handy tools in plumbing and hydraulic systems because they enable the interchange of varying component specifications.

Elbows

Press-fit elbows incorporate press-fit end connections for joining copper tubes and preventing leaks.

Bushings

Copper press-fit bushings are the ideal choice if soldering is not an option. They form a fixed mechanical joint when pressed by the tool.

Couplings

Couplings’ primary function is to connect two pieces of moving parts while allowing for some degree of misalignment, end movement, or both.

Tees

Press tees connect three copper pipes following a T-pattern using the press tool method.

O-Rings

O-rings form a watertight seal between the pipe and the fitting.

Crosses

Press-fit crosses or crossovers are used to connect one pipe to another with the use of the press tool method.

Flanges

Press-fit flanges can be used in valve installations, pumps, chillers, boilers, and backflow prevention devices.

Reducers

A reducer is a pipe fitting used in process pipework to minimize the pipe size from a larger bore to a smaller bore. A reducer enables a change in pipe size to meet the system’s fluid flow requirements or to adjust to existing piping of a different size.
